What is Runemarks?[]

Runemarks[]

Runemarks is a fantasy novel that follows Maddy, a young loner who has been ostracized from her town for the rust-colored rune mark she carries on her left hand.

500 years after the end of the world, the story beings at Malbry Village. Witchery is seen as a despicable thing, and so are it's marks.
Animals born with a runemark on their bodies are seen as cursed or deformed and are usually quickly slaughtered, but Maddy is allowed to live because she is human- Although, she is always viewed with suspicion despite this.

Her village does not follow the Norse Gods, as the puritanical regime known as the "Order" has mandated that no one is to speak or acknowledge any of the old ways, let alone use magic. It is only after she helps rid the local inn's cellar of goblins that Maddy discovers her latent magic, that it quickly becomes something which is occasionally useful to herself and those around her.

As the book progresses Maddy flashes back to her childhood where she learned about runes and Norse legends through the old traveler One-Eye, who later reveals himself to Maddy as Odin and involves her in a quest to find a treasure buried beneath Red Horse Hill.

As they search, they come across several other Norse gods and are led into a confrontation with the Order and their leader.

Runelight[]

Three years after the events in Runemarks, the Middle World has changed again. After the destruction of the Order, the surviving gods, having rescued their friends from the Black Fortress of Netherworld, have regrouped in the village of Malbry. The General is dead and chances of rebuilding Asgard seem remote. But a prophecy, coupled with the appearance of unnatural creatures in the Middle Worlds, reveal a breach in Chaos, which may lead to another Apocalypse. Once more, Maddy and her friends are forced to confront an enemy. This time, the enemy is one of their own, a renegade from World's End - Maddy's twin sister. They are both the daughters of Thor.
